ST PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION ALSO CALLED FEAST OF SAINT PATRICK!!!

St. Patrick's Day 2015 is officially upon us, and is one of the biggest events happening at the forefront of every spring annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, which marches along 5th avenue and passes by venerable New York attractions, including St. Patrick"s Cathedral and Central Park. There are plenty of other ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2015

Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick. The Day of the Festival of Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration occurring annually on March 17th, the date of the death of the most commonly recognized patron saint or Ireland, Saint Patrick. 

Saint Patrick's Day was made an official Christian feast day in the early seventeenth century and is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion, and especially the Church of Ireland. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, as well as celebrating the heritage and culture of the Irish in general.

SAINT PATRICK!!!

Much of what is known about St Patrick comes from the declaration, which was allegedly written by Patrick himself. It is believed he was born in Roman Britain in the 4th century, into a wealthy Romano British family, his father was a deacon and his grandfather was a priest in the Cristian church. 

According to the declaration, at the age of 16, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Gaelic Ireland, and it says the he spent 6 years there working as a shepherd and that during this time he found God.

On St Patrick's Day it is customary to wear shamrocks and green clothing or accessories. St Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it may be older, and in the pagan Ireland, 3 was a significant number and the Irish had many triple deities, a fact that aided St Patrick in his evangelization efforts. 

The color green has been associated with Ireland since at least the 1640's, when the green harp flag was used by the Irish Catholic Confederation. Green ribbons and shamrocks have been worn on St Patrick's Day since at least the 1680's. Green was adopted as the color of the friendly brother of St Patrick, an Irish fraternity founded in about 1750.

All started when the Chef Eric Rifkin took a trip to Memphis Tennessee and it was an inspiration for authentic southern barbecue.

In 1996, Eric Rifkin opened his first restaurant in the area of Westhampton Beach, Called The Crazy Dog. At this restaurant they used to served an electric mix of modern and comfort foods, Crazy Dog earned a "Very Good" rating from The New York Times and2 stars from Newsday. 

And after a successful 8 year run, a second location was born, this time was in the area of Sayville and once again earning accolades from New York Times and Great Restaurants of Long Island. 

Eric Rifkin's culinary career, barbecue was always a sleeping passion and in June of 2006, he opened BOBBIQUE that was named after his daughter Bobbi, in the area of Patchogue, NY. 

And now at BOBBIQUE Eric Rifkin is where his practices his culinary talents to great acclaim and authentic barbecue food, and Eric was also honored as Restaurateur of the year by Long Island Chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association.
